Privacy Policy

Information is collected from patients under PIPA (Personal Information Protection Act). Massage therapists can collect, use, and disclose personal information, but it must be done in a reasonable and appropriate manner, and with consent, unless otherwise authorized by PIPA. Essentially, massage therapists must be transparent about why they are collecting information, obtain consent where necessary, and protect the information they collect.

PIPA emphasizes that personal information should not be collected, used, or disclosed without the voluntary and informed consent of the individual.

Individuals have the right to know why their information is being collected, used, or disclosed, to access their information, and to request corrections.
Massage therapists can collect, use, and disclose information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate. For the purpose of massage therapy, health history information is collected in order to  provide safe and effective treatments and rehabilitation plans.
All massage treatments, information and records will remain confidential by the therapist except when disclosure is required by insurance companies or the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC), by law or order of the court. The sharing of health history and treatment information with other health care providers for the best interest of patient health and treatment planning will only be done with patient permission.
